Horse Anti-Slaughter Legislation Effects Discussion

Even though it seemed like the horse industry had scored a major victory when the Anti-Slaughter Legislation was passed, in the end it may not effect the industry as much as some had supposed.  While many breeders use the slaughter house to cull their herds, the ban is so short-lived, and in the slow season, and so won't effect many horses or humans.

This doesn't mean that we shouldn't keep looking for ways to change things.  It takes more than legislation to change the industry - it needs to start at the grass-roots level.  Breeders will have to change their business model significantly for there to be any lasting change.

Some of the questions we discussed were:

  • "Does this mean that there will be horses just out wandering the back streets and roads?"

  • "How long will it take the industry's economy to adjust?"

  • "Will this mean that EVERYBODY will end up taking in extra horses?"

  • "Will this mean that grade horses will be 'looked down on', and only registered horses will be worth anything?"

  • "Will this put small breeders out of business?  What about larger breeders?"

  • "What are some things that people need to do to NOW to get ready for this influx of horses?"

NAIS: The National Animal Identification System:  A Discussion

With Sharon Zecchinelli, Karin Bergener, Ron Freeman, and Stacy Mayer

We discussed on this call what the NAIS is and what it says it is - which are two entirely different things.  It is yet another way the government is encroaching on our freedoms, another way they have to control us.  It will make small farms, small breeders, and 4-H a thing of the past.

Your best first step is to get educated.  This is the way to start your education.

What People Said About This Call:

Excellent call! Did you read George Orwell's "1984"? I really think this is paving the way to mandatory chipping of our children. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree. I don't see a problem with using the technology that has been developed for voluntary legitimate tracking projects, but to have it forced, mandatory, on every animal conceivable, as is proposed is outrageous. Surely there are better uses for the time, energy and money that will be spent on this proposal, should it succeed.

Some of the reasons Danielle has been asked to communicate with a particular animal include:

  • Curiosity about how a pet sees the world

  • Reassurance before a big show

  • Discovering the details of an animal’s unknown earlier life

  • Finding out if the animal wants to be bred

  • Reassuring an animal about circumstances that are going to impact them, such as vacation, kenneling, moving to a new location, surgery, emergency circumstances, or a new addition to the family such as a new pet or child

  • Investigating health issues

  • Checking with an older animals when the family is considering an end to their animal’s suffering

  • A pre-purchase session to determine if an animal wants to live within your circumstances

  • And the one thing she’s asked to communicate most to an animal is how much their human family loves them.

Through her business, Animal Connection Danielle works with animals and their human companions worldwide to help them come to a better understanding of each other. With background as an educator in both public schools and private industry, Danielle also uses her skills to provide workshops in which others can learn to communicate telepathically with their own animals.
