Background: Lisa Derby Oden studied at the University of New Hampshire and graduated with a BS in Animal Science with a specialty in Equine Studies.   She received her MS in Management from Antioch New England Graduate School in 1995.

She owned and operated Derby Farm for many years, a 25 horse boarding and training stable that focused on Dressage and Combined Training.  She still offers riding instruction.

Her consulting practice, Blue Ribbon Consulting, offers business management and professional development services to the horse industry. Her focus is on problem solving, planning and professional growth. She works with clients from all over the country, and has recently completed a corporate development pilot project for a therapeutic riding center, a marketing plan for a riding stable, and a market analysis for a proposed stable. She conducts a workshop series on management and leadership topics for people in the horse business, and is a published author on issues affecting horse business development. Lisa is also behind the recent revitalization of the NH Horse Council, and served as the president for five years. She currently is in her fifth year as the chair for the Equine Committee for NH Farm Bureau.
